Jute shopping tote, made to order
Every bag on this page is woven and stitched in our own workshop in Cangnan, so the panel size, the colour of the weave and the handle length follow your brief rather than a catalogue default. Reference SP-JT0010.
The top band is doubled and stitched before the handles go on, which is where a jute shopper usually fails first. The base is boxed so the bag stands open while it is packed.
Material and construction
Jute is a bast fibre with a coarse, visible weave and a dry hand. Undyed it reads as a warm sand tone that suits kraft paper and natural packaging; it can also be dyed to a Pantone reference, though very pale shades tend to let the weave show through.
Jute is strong for its weight, which is why a bag this size carries 10 kg without the base sagging. It is also biodegradable, so the bag can go into commercial compost at the end of its life rather than into landfill.
Printing on jute
Screen printing is the usual choice: the ink sits on the weave and gives a matte, slightly textured mark that suits a bold logo. Fine detail and small text do not survive the weave, so we simplify artwork below about 3 mm stroke width before proofing. Embroidery and woven labels are the alternatives when you want a raised or sewn-in mark.
Q1: How much weight does it hold?
A1: The construction is tested to 10 kg. Handles are stitched through a doubled top band rather than onto a single layer, so the load is spread across the panel.
Q2: Can the bag be dyed to our colour?
A2: Yes. Natural jute can be dyed to a Pantone reference; very light shades let the weave show through, so we send a dyed swatch before production.
Q3: What is the minimum order, and how long does a sample take?
A3: 50 pcs per colour and print. A pre-production sample runs 3-7 working days after artwork approval, and production follows once you confirm it in writing.
Q4: Is the bag actually biodegradable?
A4: The jute body is a natural fibre and biodegrades in commercial compost. The print ink and any woven label are the parts to check if you need a fully compostable claim, and we can quote a water-based ink for that.
