Jute shopping bag, made to order

Shopping bag, made to your specification rather than pulled from a stock list. The body is cut and sewn in our own workshop in Cangnan, so the pattern carries your dimensions, your colour and your closure instead of a catalogue default. Reference SP-JT0007. Zips are stitched through a tape that is wider than the teeth, so the seam does not pucker and the pull runs without catching at the curve.

Material and construction

Jute is a bast fibre with a visible, slightly hairy weave and a natural tan tone. It is the most recognisable of the low-impact options and it photographs well, which is why retail buyers use it for seasonal and gift ranges.

The open weave takes large printed blocks better than small type, so we recommend artwork with generous shapes. An inner lamination keeps fine dust out of the bag and stops it marking pale contents.

Zips are stitched through a tape that is wider than the teeth, so the seam does not pucker and the pull runs without catching at the curve.

Printing and branding

Screen printing is the default for a short colour count: one plate per colour, a crisp edge on woven cloth, and a print that follows the surface rather than sitting on top of it. Screen print handles the solid block, heat transfer the fine line, embroidery the label; a woven side tag can go in at the same time.

Placement is usually centred on the front face. The print position, the size in millimetres and the colour reference are confirmed in writing before production, and a mockup of the artwork on the actual shape is sent for approval. Tolerances are plus or minus three millimetres on a sewn bag, which is what a handmade line has always held and what your own inspection should expect.

Size, colour and small changes

Sizes are made to your dimensions rather than picked from a list. If you have the object the bag has to hold, send its measurements and we will work out the allowance; if you have a drawing already, we cut to it. Carton dimensions are agreed with the order, because the packed size decides the freight cost.

Handle type and drop, lining, inner pockets and labelling are all open to change, and each is priced before it is made rather than after. Each change is priced before it is made, not after, so the quotation you approve is the one that is invoiced.

Packing, checks and shipping

A pre-production sample is signed off before bulk starts, and that sample stays on the floor as the reference for every carton in the run. Artwork is best sent as vector; where only a photograph exists we redraw the mark and return it for approval.

Shipping documents are prepared from the same order sheet as the goods, so the invoice, the packing list and the carton marks agree. Consolidated shipments can combine this line with other bags on the same order, which keeps the freight per carton down.
